A Good Call?

So last weekend when the Colts played the Jets I was a little furious and a little understanding.  I understand that you don't want your key players to get injured before the post-season.  It would be horrible if Peyton Manning or Dallas Clark or Reggie Wayne were to get hurt but in the same breath I wanted the Perfect Season...Superbowl and all.  Just to prove to everyone that the Colts are a better team then the 2007 *almost undefeated* Patriots.  But yesterday the Patriots proved to us that this was an excellent idea because of the season ending injury of key wide out Wes Welker.  The leading receiver of the Pats is down for the count with a torn ACL/MCL and will not play in the post-season.  I can hear the sighs of relief coming from all Colts fans *myself included*.

Perfect season?  or the lose of a very key player?  Now the choice seems simple for the Colts who really had nothing but a perfect season to play for last week.  Keep your players healthy.  Rest them for a few weeks and hope that the month layoff won't kill their enthusiasm or momentum.  Because of yesterday I say these words....good call Jim Caldwell!
